My genius hour presentation was about bodybuilding for teens. This topic is important to me because I used to be interested in this topic for myself. At one point I went to the gym regularly, and this sort of research was something that I always wanted to do. I learned that the pseudoscience and “facts” saying that teen bodybuilding is unsafe and will stunt your growth are all wrong. With proper technique, muscle excercises can be good for a growing body according to my research. This knowledge helped me grow as a person because I know that the things that I learned can be applied to real life for myself and for others. I think that what I learned helped the community because everyone that saw my presentation was within the age group classified as “teen”, meaning that if they become interested in bodybuilding they may have a better understanding of the risks and rewards of the practice. I am really not sure how what I learn in the next Genius Hour will impact the world, because I haven’t yet decided on the topic that I want to study. However I do want to be involved in something that can be beneficial to the community and that can teach others something applicable in their own lives.
